Skylotec Sirius
The Skylotec Sirius is a descender with an anti-panic function, specially designed for fast, safe and controlled descent during rope access work, for example. The Sirius is designed for intensive use in harsh conditions and is made of 100% steel/aluminium, so there are no vulnerable plastic parts.
Automatic locking function
The Skylotec Sirius is equipped with a lever that automatically returns to the device's locking position, preventing the rope from accidentally slipping through the device. In addition, the radius of the lever is quite small, allowing for fast, accurate, comfortable and safe working.
Anti-panic
The Skylotec Sirius is equipped with an anti-panic function that automatically locks when the descent lever is pulled uncontrollably. This prevents too rapid a descent. For "experts only"; the Skylotec Spark is an identical descent device but without this anti-panic function.
Rope installation
The rope can be easily installed and removed from the device without having to detach it from the harness. This allows the descent device to be detached from the rope during work so that, for example, a section of the rope can be climbed (e.g. with the Skylotec Get Up and Skylotec Stand Up).. When installed correctly, the rope routing in the Skylotec Sirius ensures that the rope is protected against twisting, kinking and excessive wear.

I've been using the Sirius for a few days now, a nice compact device. The rope slides in easily and locks securely, ascending in the Sirius is very easy and the rope runs smoothly, better than in an ID or RIG. Descending is also very smooth and, because the lever is locked, extra safe in case you go over the edge. The pre-drilled hole for an extra pulley to make a hoist is also a great feature, something you really miss on an ID. All in all, a very nice device that I would definitely like to have more of.
Robust and handy hole for a pulley. Very satisfied.
The ropes run smoothly, descending is easy and controlled. In my case, a good alternative to the Petzl ID.
