This set is a basic set for rope access work. It contains a combination of the minimum materials required to work safely and comfortably with ropes. Two basic items that are not included are a safety helmet and ropes. Because the choice of these items depends greatly on personal preference and, of course, the type of rope access work, we have deliberately not included them in this set.
Depending on your experience, budget and the type of work, this set can be expanded with numerous accessories and additional hardware, for example for rigging lines, for aid climbing or for performing a (complex) rescue.
Safe, comfortable, professional and durable
When putting together this set, we looked for the highest quality and most comfortable items. In addition, we have years of experience with what is most commonly used in practice and best rated. With the purchase of this set, you are assured of a professional rope access climbing set that will give you years of enjoyment.
This Rope Access climbing set is composed as follows:
Petzl Astro International (click here)
Comfortable Rope Access climbing harness. Equipped with large, integrated Croll ascenders, comfortable waist belt and leg loops, sufficient gear loops, foldable work positioning points and quick-release buckles on the leg loops. In addition to these quick-release buckles on the leg loops, there is also one at shoulder height. This allows the harness to be put on and taken off quickly and easily while maintaining the set dimensions.
- The Petzl Astro International is available in 3 sizes. The size chart for this Rope Access climbing harness can be found on the last image.
Petzl I'D-S (click here)
ID stands for Industrial Descender. Robust and easy to use. The I'D-S is equipped with an anti-panic function that prevents the user from descending too quickly. The Petzl I'D is also protected against incorrect installation of the line. The lever automatically returns to the working position and the I'D remains connected to the harness thanks to the mobile flank when you want to change ropes.
Petzl Asap Lock + Asap'sorber Axess (click here)
The Petzl Asap Lock is a mobile fall arresters for rope access. The Asap Lock automatically moves up and down and locks almost immediately in the event of either a descent that is too fast or a fall. Thanks to the Lock function, the Asap Lock can be secured to the rope. This prevents the Asap from sliding down during work. The Asap Lock is combined with the Asap'sorver Axess, a rope access fall arrest device that can be used for two-person rescue. The Asap Lock (like the Petzl I'D-S) also remains connected to the harness at all times, even when changing ropes.
Cowtails 3x (click here)
Cowtails is the technical term used in rope access for short dynamic lifelines that are used for various applications. This set contains 3 standard cowtails, each with a length of 210 cm. When you tie these cowtails with two double figure-eight knots, you are left with a lifeline of approximately 80 cm.
Ascension hand ascender (click here)
A hand ascender is required to ascend a rope access rope. The Petzl Ascension is an ergonomic hand ascender that has proven itself in practice under harsh conditions such as heavily soiled, wet or even frozen rope.
- The Ascension hand ascender is available in left- and right-handed versions, which you can select from the various product options.
Footape foot loop (click here)
You need this foot loop to be able to ascend the rope. If you plan to do an aid climb, we recommend purchasing a second foot loop.
Carabiners
This set comes with the necessary carabiners:
- 2x SafetyPro Ovalone - triact lock for the Petzl I'D and the Asap Lock
- 3x Petzl Oxan - screw lock for the three cowtails (the hand ascender and foot loop go on one carabiner)
Safety helmets
As mentioned earlier, this set does not include an industrial climbing helmet for Rope Access. Many of our customers already have their own helmet, and there is a wide range of helmets available. The most popular Rope Access helmets are:
