Thanks to the additional spacer, this screw carabiner can never open during use. It also forces the user to close the carabiner completely; if this is not done, the spacer cannot be closed. Finally, the black spacer prevents the carabiner from being loaded incorrectly. The separation means that the carabiner can never tilt, which could cause it to be loaded incorrectly.
