The Skalt Substito 1.5 is a single lanyard with integrated shock absorber for professional fall-arrest applications. The lanyard is intended for work involving mainly horizontal movement, such as from a man basket, mobile elevating work platform or on roofs, and complies with EN 354 and EN 355. The integrated shock absorber reduces the arresting force in the event of a fall to a maximum of 6 kN, provided that adequate clearance height is available.
Single lanyard with integrated shock absorber
The Substito 1.5 is configured as a single lanyard with an integrated energy absorber. The lanyard is manufactured from kernmantle rope or polyester webbing with a minimum breaking strength of 22 kN, ensuring that fall forces can be absorbed safely. Owing to the integrated shock absorber, the lanyard may be used as part of a fall-arrest system in accordance with EN 355.
Safe use within minimum clearance height
When using the Substito 1.5, the total fall distance must be taken into account. The shock absorber can extend by approximately 1.5–2 m, and the combined length of lanyard, absorber and user height requires a minimum clearance of about 6.25–6.50 m below the user, including a 1 m safety margin. The lanyard must be attached as high as possible to a suitable anchorage point in order to minimise the fall factor.
